caitlyn :: belly

i know the gorgeous caitlyn through my sis-in-law stacie. they are both amazing hair stylists at celebrity salon downtown. i was so excited to get to shoot caitlyn’s bump that even the crazy killer mosquitos couldn’t bring me down (well, actually, they did after about 20 minutes and we called it quits! lol.)

look at that little basketball!! there is a baby in there and it’s coming REALLY soon!

here is my version of the “heart on belly”- peace and love!!

i challenge you to find a more beautiful pregnant gal anywhere, ever. i totally bet you can’t. caitlyn is pregnant perfection.

eeeew, i didn’t photoshop them out on purpose… look at the skeeters on her belly!

and FYI, caitlyn is just as sweet and amazing as she is gorgeous (so that is lots and lots of sweetness and amazingness!!!). she is going to be a great mamma!

thank you for allowing me to document this amazing time in your life! i look forward to hearing the news of the little ones arrival. and, one word on the final image. a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

i played around some more with processing these images. the location was asking me to do something with it. i hope you enjoy it;-)

and a shout out to my mom for scouting the location for me!! she sure did awesome. i need to get out there again!

Mom Susan - what can one say….. everything is perfect! your pics, your blog, your uniqueness in every shoot you do (gotta love the love and peace signs) and of course your fabulous locations. Who would know we found this so close to home since it kind of looks like something out of the slums or a war torn area. good luck to the parents on their upcoming birth!

i have met some amazing people while teaching at vic (victoria school of the arts). these guys are WAY up at the top of that list. i have had the honour of teaching both the kids- miss claire when i was doing my student teaching and she was in grade two and then mr. nathan was in my grade six class this year. i always looked forward to celebration’s of learning so i could visit with their parents (in between talking about school, of course!).

it was a perfect sunday afternoon spent capturing these guys. enjoy the images and click here for a slideshow of even more!

you know it is going to be a great shoot when this is the first shot of the session!

though stinky, this alley had some great spots for us!

these next few make my heart smile:))))))

every time i look at these pics i laugh out loud. bahahaha!!! i think it is the look on nathan’s face. priceless!

nathan is so effortlessly cool.

jaime and david :: married

jaime and david were married on saturday! the day was full of love and family. it was a record amount of family portraits i took and a record amount of tears i shed during the father/daughter dance. oh, love!

i am working away at my weddings and portrait sessions so won’t have time for full blog posts for a week or so. for now, you will have to enjoy little peaks! i hope they make you smile…

::edited to add:: click here for a slideshow!! enjoy!

this first one jumped out at me right away.

and i looooved jaime’s bouquet.

work-it;-)

i thought this image was asking for me to do something to it so i have been playing around. if you :like: electric green on facebook you  already saw the black and white one. what do you think about the one below? it isn’t usually my style of processing but lately this has been making me happy with a couple of pics here and there!

i can’t put my finger on exactly why this is my fave image. i think it is the look on jaime’s face. love.

i will have a couple more small posts up for you this week. stay tuned!

Jaleen - outdoor weddings are so beautiful!

ashley and buu :: anytime :: love

it is amazing what you can do in 10 minutes. literally 10 minutes of shooting. we had to cut our session WAY short due to the killer mosquitos outside. we felt like we were in a war zone. lol!! i know that buu was heartbroken about such a short shoot. don’t worry buu- we will schedule a re-shoot;-)

buu and ashley are so in love and adorable together. this was one of the first shots out of my camera.

as you can tell, ashley laughs a lot! it is a great laugh and got me going too.

there are only subtle differences between these two but i can’t decide which one i like best…

about a block away from my home is/was this amazing location with so many options for places to shoot. i have shot there twice already and came back tonight to use another spot. when we came over the little hill i found all the beloved buildings torn down. how stinky. i loved living so close to an amazing spot with literally a dozen location options within the one area. anyhoo, the property owner still has the cars out so we got busy!

i had some fun processing this image. my goal was to get it to look like a pic i would pull out of an old shoebox from the top of my grandma’s spare bedroom closet.

look at these two- they are going to make cute babies one day;-)

despite the killer skeeters and the mini-mini shoot i am in love with these images!! thank you buu and ashley!

Ash - Thanks Car….your amazing!!! Buu loved modeling for you, he wished the bugs didn’t eat him alive so he could show you more of his looks he was practicing ;)

Jenn - Love these photos Car!
Ash and Buu are just the cutest together. Love it :0)

Bon (Ashley’s Mom) - Carla, you would have never have known that you took these amazing pics in a mosquito war zone. You are a very talented artist! I agree, Ash & Buu are indeed beautiful together…love them both to bits!

Mom Susan - for a 10 minute shoot…. that was awesome work. of course this delightful couple made for some lovely models!! check grandma’s closet maybe she does have some similar pics!!

Stacie - WOW!!!AMazing!! I love the one where you changed the color it looks like a cool 70’s add..love it!! you guys look sooo amazing together, you make me happy looking at these pics =)

Donna Turon - Donna (Jenn’s Mom) – Love, love them Carla. They are great models & I love, love the shoebox picture. Of course, Ash Hynes, you know how I feel about you two!! Soooooo cute & hot!!!

anne - have been in l.a. on the look-out for celebs, but looks like we have two right here in our lovely city…ashley and buu…you two are just too cute for words! great photos once again carla, i too, love the ’shoebox photo’. bonnie…you must be beaming at these gorgeous pics of your two favourtie people!

bursting with pride :: personal

this past weekend drew, bree, and i (along with my mom and dad and kelly’s mom and dad!) took a little road trip to calgary to watch my sister and bother-in-law compete in their first ever 1/2 IronMan. WOW!

what is an IronMan you might ask. it is “the world’s most prestigious one-day endurance event”. in the IronMan 70.3 (the 1/2) athletes begin with a 1.9 km swim, move on to a 90 km bike, and then end with a 21km run (that is a half marathon!). isn’t that incredible?! my sister began her race at 6:30am with kelly’s age group starting about 15 minutes later. with miss bree in tow and a hotel room to pack i didn’t make it to the swim or get to see the bike. drew, bree, and i arrived to watch the bike transition and cheer them on during the run. eeeeek! it was so exciting. seeing abby and then kelly race in on their bikes and through their transition to their run was thrilling. then, we found a great location and got to see them twice on their run.

abby and kelly have been training for this for months and it was an inspiring and incredible thing to watch and be a part of. i am so proud of  both abby and kelly. their commitment and athletic ability is something to admire and aspire to. they are taking a brief two week break from training (although on the way home from calgary they were overheard talking about their next run!!) and will then be resuming training for a FULL IronMan in arizona in november.

here is miss abby right at the end of the bike portion! i love that it looks like she is smiling and that woman is yelling at her.

abigail. 341.

here she is transitioning. both kelly and abby couldn’t stop complimenting the volunteers at the race. abby especially loved this lady who helped her!

i love this one! she was yelling something to me…

now here comes kelly! can you say quads?!

almost ready to take off and start his 1/2 marathon run!

here is ab at about 18km. easy peasy;-)

kelly at 18km.

miss abby crossing the finish line!! i love how she doesn’t even look very tired. she has only been working out for 6 hours STRAIGHT!

i didn’t manage to catch kelly’s finish but i did get these sweet moments of them  after the race! awwwwww. i love how the mans arm is blocking their pda in the second one.

miss bree had to make a cameo! the skeeters were CRAZY so she had to stay in here to cheer on her auntie and uncle! she had lots of fun and was so proud of abby and kelly too.

changed and ready to do it again?!

what an amazing event to watch. i couldn’t be  more proud of my little sister. her and kelly are truly amazing athletes!!

i hope we get to go cheer them on in AZ this fall and watch them become IronMen!!

Jenn - wow this truly is amazing. so happy for Abby and Kelly! way to go you two :0)

Stacey Jang - Wow. So incredible. Thanks for sharing Carla; great photos. Congrats Abby and Kelly :)

Stacey aka. Stabby Kang (hahaha Abby should remember; Linds never forgot!)

Amanda - AMAZING! I am so proud of them both. What an incredible accomplishment!

Patti - Great pictures Carla! WOW! What an accomplishment! I’m sure Abby and Kelly are extremely proud of themselves (as they should be) and how great that you all were able to go and support them and cheer them on – fantastic!

Krysta - Ah, athletic accomplishments really tear me up – Abby and Kelly are truly inspiring. I think I’ll go for a run now…

Abby - Wow- awesome photos Car! Thanks so much for coming out and being part of our support crew!
(I kind of think Bree’s picture steals the show with those little lips!)

stacie - oh this def brought a tear to my eye..sooo sooo proud of you Ab and Kel. what an amazing accomplishment.you should be VERY VERY proud of yourselves =) and of corse, great pics and so amazing that you were able to capture the moment Car, love it all

Mom Susan - i tried to comment from the rimrock but it didn’t seem to work… maybe my tears that were blinding me were part of the problem! carla your pics and blog are wonderful as usual. the day was unbelievable from early morning til mid afternoon and seeing abby & kelly realize this dream was sooo great! what amazing athletes! gotta love that little bree as she was so good even though her day was long and grueling too!

anne - all i can say is WOW!! abby and kelly, you two are the best! what a great accomplishment, your dedication and commitment to your training is to be admired!
susan & colin, bernie & gary … you all must be SO proud!
